You need to install Genymotion to use whatsapp in ubuntu.
(1). First, go to genymotion site Genymotion , there you have to register, then only you will be allowed for download it, its just around 28 MB.
(2). open terminal using alt+ctrl+t, then if you are keeping file in downloads then type following command in your terminal.
note: remember if you are using 32 bit then you have to download 32 bit genymotion version else download 64 bit.
I have install 64 bit because I am using 64 bit linux version.
cd ~/Download/
chmod +x genymotion.2.2.2_x64.bin
./genymotion.2.2.2_x64.bin
(3). after typing all these command update your system and go into genymotion folder and click on genymotion with a purple diamond symbol.
(4). If you have already virtual box then no problem OW download virtual box from oracle site. keep in same directory with genymotion and again start your genymotion.
(5). once you have started genymotino, choose which device you want to run as emulator. download configuration.
(6). And finally Enjoy doing chat.
